Enhancement of residual biomass in biorefining processes aimed at the production of “sustainable biofuels” and bio-chemicals.

The BIOFEEDSTOCK Research Project “Development of Integrated Technological Platforms for the Valorization of Residual Biomasses” aims to contribute to the wider exploitation of residual biomasses in biorefining processes aimed at the production of “sustainable biofuels” and bio-chemicals through the integration of in situ pretreatment for the production of biogenic intermediates (biofeedstocks) and their final enhancement in the biorefinery.

The project integrates study, experimental research and industrial demonstration activities for the development of support tools and for the realization of demonstration courses.

The aim of the project is to contribute to the removal of logistic and technological (and sometimes cultural) barriers for a more effective inclusion of residual biomass in advanced transformation and enhancement schemes consistent with the principles of the circular economy.
